So...it’s been a while, but finally the transmogrification from wiseacring gibberings masquerading as a pseudo-theological weblog to ‘serious online bookstore’ with appended wiseacring gibberings masquerading as a bookdealing weblog is now complete. Mwahaha.

As the gentle reader will now observe, we are specializing in much the same sort of material we used to only rant about: Modern First Editions - particularly hypermoderns with an emphasis on signed copies, limiteds, crime fiction and Booker nominated - esoteric works: Gurdjieff, Ouspensky, Bennett and the gang, Charlie Fort, Austin Osman Spare and all aspects of Islamic Studies with an emphasis on Islamic Art and Classical Sufism as well as Middle Eastern academic works and travel literature such as Burton, Burckhardt, Newby, Thesiger etc.

Currently a very small section of our stock is listed and we are updating daily. Please enquire if you have a specific want or even material you think we may be interested in, we purchase regularly. We are also busy listing on ABE and several other listing services and will post details here when complete. Meanwhile we have a downloadable pdf available of Clearance sale items.

Apologies for absence, I have been re-structuring life, ideas and plans.

Over the next few months I will be attempting to turn Anulios into a ‘real world’ magazine/review. It is a big project and will take some time - the idea is to have a magazine that is downloadable and can be printed out from a website - this one - which will also feature some of the articles and features.

The magazine will still be called Anulios but the focus will swerve slightly; there will be more on an ‘activity in the real world’ aspect and this means events and happenings in Barcelona as that is where we are - anything from reviews to storytellings and exhibitions which we shall be organizing.

This is an idea I had myself quite a while back but nothing came of it for the simple reason that it is impossible to get the people who have the capacity for this. In short; Gurdjieff’s ‘Seekers of Truth’ and any equivalent we may foreseeably cobble together are not the same thing and - in the present climate - there is absolutely zero possibility of even reaching 1% of the quality of consciousness of those people.

I hope the dialogue continues and is curious the levels of application - everyone is taking from it something that is meant for them. I have realized something quite important for me from this dialogue though perhaps now is not the time to share it as it needs digesting first but I wanted to express my gratitude.

Carry on guys!

I recently rejoined blogging after a seven month hiatus. I stopped because I was disillusioned, although not for the same reason you have given. In my case, I was discouraged by my inability to find the words to convey my message. I have studied for many years with a genuine master teacher of the esoteric arts and sciences. From reading some of your past posts, especially your recent series on “Why I am Abandoning Esotericism” and from reading comments from some of your readers, I have been struck by several things.

I have a theory about Islamophobia, extremism and Bush/Blair/Islamists/totalitarianism etc and I thought I’d rant on about it for a bit as I’m bored. I’m especially bored with Islamophobes and non-thinkers who - I fervently hope, will not , like the poor, be always with us. Basically it is this: all these things are symptoms of the same underlying ailment - retrogressive stupidity.

This is my theory: Life is evolving. That is to say, history is the history of advancement and evolution - we start off in caves we progress to huts, to houses, to space....and on. Progress is all. It is irresistable and where we are headed in all areas; technological, philosophical, religious etc.....

The Pope’s has apologized. He says he wanted to open a debate on the use of violence in religion. In response to this our TV screens are filled with ‘Muslims’ holding placards proclaiming ‘Death to Christianity’ and ‘Kill the Pope’ and such.

What is actually happening here?

If we are interested in Sufism, mysticism and general esoteric wiseacring - and that is what this blog actually is - then what we are essentially interested in is the distinction between ‘illusion’ or apparent/concensus reality and ‘reality’. Ie the idea that what we see on a daily basis may be ‘false’ or illusory and that we need to ‘wake up’.

Still mindlessly busy - Okapi Creative is finally finished btw - but seeing how all of you have failed to step up to the plate as guest bloggers I am forced to do it myself! Big thanks to Mark at Eternal Awareness btw for an excellent article which I shall publish here soon.

Well, there is certainly much to rant about...ho um, where to start....my adventures with Salvia Divinorum? No, perhaps another time....I know.....The Pope. That’s always a good one.

It seems that the Pontiff has been making some ill-informed and rather ludicrous comments about Islam and Muslims have taken offense. This should not surprising as that was probably the intention of either the man himself or those (mis) interpreting his words. Or both. The aim being to continue to perpetuate the recently established stereotype of babbling barbarians frothing at the mouth at every imagined slight and who are hell bent on ‘hating our freedom’.

Actually I also ‘hate our freedom’ in some sense but that is largely because it is no freedom at all - it is choice. Overwhelming choice admittedly but at the end of the day it is still only restricted choice from an authorized menu compiled by someone else who has no intention of putting certain dishes on it and who may or may not have our best interests at heart. Certainly they have their own....

Yep - I’m still there - well, perhaps Inner Space. My absence is more extended than I thought would be necessary. Basically, we have just set up a new design agency: http://www.okapicreative.com - and, unbelievably (because the site is not officially launched till next week), we are inundated with clients screaming for cutting-edge design.

So: hence no posts. And it’s unlikely to change in the next few weeks as I have some massive Expression Engine and coding jobs piling up.

Which brings me to this: I don’t want this blog to die - though it could conceivably go through a ‘conversion experience’ as I have a ‘big vision’ which it is a key part of - yet, I do not have time to nurture it on my own. I have come up with a possible solution - what I propose is this:

That I throw it open to ‘guest bloggers’ who might have a different input than me (hopefully) but still be moving in the same general direction. This way we could evolve Anulios into more of an ‘Online Community’ which broaches many different areas of interest - Christianity, Islam, Parapolitics, Sufism, Magic, Fortean stuff - whatever.

Then when I have time, and if it has worked, we could redesign as a portal or something similar and launch a push for online domination, mwwwahahah.
