Things are happening a bit here - which is surprising for the end of the year in Barcelona but I’m not complaining.
On the work front the project I mentioned earlier concerning a center which will teach various things (yoga, chi gong, voicework etc) and be an ‘open space’ for exhibitions and happenings is underway and it looks like we will be able to go ahead with this in Barcelona in the new year if we find the right space. In a year or so the aim is to move this to the Albujarras region outside Grenada and these plans seem miraculously on track. More as it develops.
Have been quite busy also as some transitions are happening in the design aspect of things. In the New Year I will cease to be a ‘gun for hire’ as some friends from Los Angeles and I are launching a new design agency and consultancy here in Barcelona. They are graphic geniuses (which I am not!) but hate coding and programming (which I love) so we have a perfect work division and will be offering Uber-cool multi-lingual web and print design. Lots to do to set it up but it’s all taking-off.
In the ‘imaginal world’ things have taken a back seat but I should have some time to think (and hence to post) soon. In this vein I was thinking about this ‘Seekers After Truth’ group quite a bit lately and I now realise it was a totally misconceived project.
The aim was ostensibly to ‘find a genuine school’ but I hadn’t really thought it through. When I (unfortunately after the fact) finally sat down to think about this, numerous interesting questions arose - I’ll mention some here:
1) Would I even recognize such a school?
2) Perhaps one is ‘staring me in the face’?
3) Perhaps there is no such thing and it is (like so much in this particular area of mysticism and magic) in fact, a fiction?
I also come to some conclusions. Perhaps the most obvious one is that if such a school existed and didn’t wish to be found then there could be no way of finding it (given it would be a school of ‘masters’ as opposed to some more mundane endeavour). Conversely, if it did wish to be found then, again using the above criteria, then it would be projecting itself in the most appropriate way already. If it is ‘invisible’ then it must be invisible to me rather than objectively. So I’ve concluded that the effort to find it is a waste of time.
That and the fact that not many people seem interested in the group! Hehe - I guess I was a bit slow to catch up on this one!
I realized something else too: in a way, everyday life is the school. That is to say that even if the imagined school did exist and one was somehow ‘in it’, if one didn’t have the correct attitude then what is the possibility of gaining anything at all? On the other hand, if one does have the right attitude then one’s relationship to life and learning must be very different. Anyway, enough wiseacring, I think I will just let the group sink below the radar -thanks to those who showed interest in it.
On other matters, it’s party season here in Barcelona and we have been caught up in the usual whirlwind of the seasonal social calendar. Seem to be eating out a lot too so it is perhaps a good time to throw in some restaurant reviews and tips over the next week or so.
