A Bit About Me

My name is Tarquin Rees. I am originally from Pontypridd in Wales but after working for several years in Amsterdam, Paris and Florence I now divide my existence between Wales and Barcelona.

I am currently working as a freelance web developer, independent internet consultant and personal assistant specializing in coding websites in Css and Xhtml as well as programming in Php/MySql. Most of my work is with the Barcelona design collective Okapi Creative and through my own agency Alkaemia Design. Both these links contain portfolios and examples of my recent work.

Previously I owned and managed a gallery in London specializing in antique and modern tribal rugs and kilims and I still deal in rare tribal textiles as well as high-end modern production kilims. A new website featuring my latest collections will soon be online at tarquinrees.com.

I attend SOAS, London University for my undergraduate degrees and until recently I was studying for my Phd in Islamic Studies at Edinburgh University but have now taken some time out. Perhaps forever, who knows?

On a more personal note, in my spare time I collect antique rugs, Islamic art and magical manuscripts and have a strong interest in marine fishkeeping while also indulging a mania for the Japanese board game 'Go'. Though not at the same time.

In BCN I can often be found obsessively smoking nargile and fanatically following Wales' and Barcelona's footballing exploits. I am currently writing a novel and working on organsing exhibitions of antique and contemporary tribal weavings for sale in Barcelona which will be viewable shortly at the link above.

If you need to I may be contacted via any of the details below: get in touch if you like.
